The Third Rule when reaching for Goals…

I recently watched a clip where an Olympic athlete explained that just before she was on her way to the Olympics she really did not feel at the top of her game…

She was concerned that she was not feeling great. Her Coach asked her if she had heard of the Third Rule. She had not heard of this so he explained the following… When working on or towards a big goal or vision you would experience the following:

  1. A third of the time you would feel great
  2. A third of the time you would feel ok
  3. And a third of the time you would not feel great at all

The Coach explained that the above was normal.

If you felt great all of the time you probably not challenging yourself enough and if you feel not great all the time you are probably overwhelmed or overloaded.
